The Strauss family is practically the musical ambassador for the allure of Vienna: city of love and music. In addition to being the fervent hub of music-making and forgery of the venerated Austro-Germanic classical traditions, Vienna is also the cradle of the light-hearted music which has managed to entertain and charm audiences throughout the ages, regardless of culture and social class. The musical dynasty of Johann Strauss and his offspring, Johann Jr. and Joseph, has dominated these iconic forms with their prolific output of waltzes, polkas and marches, drawing inspirations from humorous folk music to elegant court dance. Under the dancing baton of Mo. CHEN Xieyang, the SZS will send the audience home humming to the strains of waltzes and strutting to strophes of polkas, with all-time favorites like the Blue Danube Waltz and Thunder and Lighting Polka.
